1. Booking & Payment
-
How can I make a reservation?
-
Please contact us through the [Contact & Booking] form on our website.
We will reply after confirming the details.
-
Is there a cancellation fee?
-
Yes. Cancellations after confirmation are subject to a cancellation fee.
The deposit paid at the time of booking is non-refundable.
Please also note that refunds are not available after the tour has started.
-
Can I receive a refund of the deposit if I cannot join the tour due to unavoidable circumstances such as flight cancellations or natural disasters?
-
Even in cases of unavoidable circumstances such as flight cancellations or natural disasters, deposits are generally non-refundable.
However, in such situations, your deposit will not be lost. Instead, it can be used as credit toward a future Sri Lanka tour booking made through our service.
We will handle postponed bookings as flexibly as possible depending on the situation, so please feel free to contact us.
-
How does the payment process work?
-
Payment is divided into the following two steps:
① Advance Deposit (Credit Card Payment in Sri Lankan Rupees)
After booking, a portion of the tour fee must be paid in advance in Sri Lankan Rupees by credit card.② Remaining Balance (Cash Payment in Sri Lankan Rupees)
After arriving in Sri Lanka, the remaining balance (after deducting the deposit) should be transferred in Sri Lankan Rupees to the designated bank account through a local ATM or bank branch, usually on the first day of the tour.
The driver will assist you with transportation to the bank or ATM and with the payment process if needed.

2. Driver & Vehicle
-
How can I contact the driver?
-
After the deposit payment is confirmed, we will provide the contact information of Ushan, the manager and driver.
Communication in English is recommended for smoother conversation.
-
Will Ushan be the driver?
-
Your driver will either be Ushan himself or one of the drivers personally recommended by him.
These partner drivers are experienced, highly rated by guests, and carefully selected by Ushan for their professionalism and driving skills.
-
What language does the driver speak?
-
Communication with the driver will mainly be in English.
-
How many passengers can the vehicle accommodate? How much luggage can it carry?
-
The standard sedan vehicle accommodates up to 4 people including the driver and can usually carry 2–3 suitcases.
A 7-seater van-type vehicle can also be arranged upon request.
-
Do you provide child seats?
-
Child seats are generally not available in Sri Lanka.
However, we always drive extra carefully when traveling with small children.
3. Tour Details & Itinerary
-
Can I customize the tour itinerary?
-
Yes.
The tours are simply sample itineraries, so you are free to add or remove destinations within the available schedule.
Please feel free to discuss your preferences with the driver.
-
What are the driver’s working hours?
-
Normally, service hours are from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
However, depending on the tour schedule, earlier or later arrangements may also be possible.
If your flight arrives after 4:00 PM, the tour will generally begin on the following day.
-
Can you arrange safari tours, Ayurveda experiences, or village tours?
-
Yes, we can arrange all of these for you.
By booking through Sri Lanka Travel Japan, we can often provide better value and more reliable services than arranging everything independently.
There are many companies in Sri Lanka offering safaris, Ayurveda experiences, and village tours, and unfortunately the quality can vary greatly.
We only recommend services that Ushan has personally selected and trusts.
You may request reservations either before the tour or during the trip directly with Ushan or your driver.
-
Can you reserve tickets for the famous tea train?
-
In principle, we recommend that guests book train tickets online by themselves, as this is usually the easiest and most reliable option.
However, if tickets are sold out, please contact Ushan first.
We will check availability and do our best to help arrange tickets if possible.
-
Can I include a sunrise visit to Sigiriya Rock or Pidurangala Rock in the tour schedule?
-
Yes, this can be included in your itinerary.
For sunrise visits, departure from hotels in the Sigiriya area is usually around 5:00 AM.
In such cases, a tuk-tuk will normally be arranged instead of using the charter taxi vehicle.
Your driver will arrange a trusted local tuk-tuk driver, and the tuk-tuk fee will be paid separately by the guest.
The reason for using tuk-tuks is that elephants may sometimes appear in the area early in the morning, and the roads and paths can still be dark and slippery before sunrise.
Smaller local vehicles are generally safer and more suitable in these conditions.
4. Tipping
-
Are tips necessary?
-
Tipping is customary in Sri Lanka.
As a general guideline, guests usually give the driver around 2000–3000 LKR per day at the end of each tour day.
If you are unsure about tipping amounts for other services such as safari jeep drivers or tuk-tuk drivers, your driver will be happy to advise you.
5. Preparing for Your Trip to Sri Lanka
-
Where should I exchange money?
-
We recommend exchanging money at the airport upon arrival, as exchange rates are generally similar across locations.
Banks and authorized exchange counters in the city are also available, and your driver can assist you if needed.
-
Are there any clothing guidelines?
-
When visiting temples and religious sites, modest clothing is recommended.
You may also need to remove your shoes, so bringing socks may be helpful for your comfort.
